24. “Every Time You Come Home, It’s the Best Day of My Life”
Dogs do not really keep track of “yesterday.” When you walk through the door, your dog is not thinking “great, you are back, like you were back yesterday.” To them, each time you come home is the first time.
That is why the joy never fades. Why even an old dog with gray on their face still gets up to greet you. Why the tail wag still happens after fifteen years.
